Kauai

Tubing the Ditch was our best excursion in Hawaii

Some local musicians and a hula dancer

The temperature was 77

We picked up helmets, gloves, and water shoes

They also had Zipline Excursions

We all introduced ourselves in the van

The tubes were in the trailer behind us

We were on a sugar plantation

Tall mountains

Our excursion group

A brief lesson on tubing

We got in to the Hanamaulu Ditch

We went tubing for two miles

Most of it was underground

The water was only a few feet deep

We had miner helmets so that we could see

We often ran into walls

The open ditches were hand dug in 1912

We saw some spectacular flora as
we went down the ditch's tropical waterway

Mike ready to Ghost Ride the Ditch

Make sure you watch Mike's ghost ride
in the Tubing the Ditch movie!

Gail getting out

Pickles is last to get out

We all had fun tubing the ditch

We stopped for some cookies and fruit punch

After tubing the ditch we went to Anchor Cove Beach

Mike getting ready to surf

Paddling out is not as easy as it looks

Mike is an awesome surfer!

The surfboard cost $10 an hour

The beach was really nice

We took a free shuttle to this free beach

Pickles exploring the beach

There were a few hotels close by

The water was nice but still not as nice as the Caribbean

Kimmy exploring the beach

The girls are ready to get back to the ship

Surfing lessons

A lot of girls were surfing in Hawaii

Kimmy ready to get back to the ship

Anchor Cove Shops

We bought some stuff at the ABC Store

A bus ready to get us back to the ship

Kimmy and Pickles waiting for the bus

We went back to the ship, changed clothes,
and left for the Luau at 4 pm

We all got lei'd

A musician showing off strange instruments

We had about an hour before dinner to walk around

It was at the Gaylord Mansion

Mike got some ink stamped tatoos

Two turtles

And a sun on his leg

We enjoyed Mai Tais

The mansion was really pretty

The dinner was a buffet

We had assigned tables

Girls in Coconuts

They had some fire dancers

The sound of the Pu, Conch begins the Kalamaku Luau

Kimmy tries to run off with one of the Hawaiian dancers

A hula dancer

The show started

The show was kind of like a play

They had many different dances

They were pretending to be sailing

The girls danced around with maces of fire

This was the best part of the show

Fire!

The dancers

Mike hooks up with three Hawaiian girls from the luau

Gail and Pickles hook up with one of the dancers also

The Luau had only been performing for two weeks
