We
left Puerto Rico for a seven day cruise on one of Royal
Caribbean’s biggest ships, Adventure of the Seas.
There were several ports so we had only one full day at
sea. Our dinner tablemates at the early seating (6:15)
were quite enjoyable. The food was great. Two fish dinners
were the best I have ever eaten. Mike enjoyed his dinners
as well. The dining room and the cabin services were excellent.

Most shows were so-so, but two were exceptional, Revolution,
a Beatles tribute band, and Hot Ice, Cool Art, the
first ice skating show we have seen at sea. Most travelers
were Puerto Rican. Although the ship was crowded, we still
enjoyed the cruise.

Barbados
Although
this was our fourth visit to Barbados, we still enjoyed
the island and shopping. There were three different
stops on our snorkeling excursion, two for snorkeling
and one for swimming. We saw some large turtles. Carlisle
Bay was a beautiful turquoise color, and the water
was unusually salty. We also went to Cheffette, a
Barbadian style McDonalds. Barbados is very good stop
for beaches and snorkeling. |

St.
Lucia
This
is our third time here. We went to Runaway beach.
I really enjoyed meeting the locals. I think the people
are very friendly. Some might find them pushy. I really
enjoyed meeting them during our Caribbean Idol videos.
There’s a lot of local color on this island
and it’s probably one of the greenest in the
Caribbean. Mike went parasailing and I took videos
from the beach. He really enjoyed it and had fun. |
Antigua
Antigua
is a very dry island. This was our third time here. The
day we went it started off by raining. It cleared up later
and we managed to get some good shopping in. They have a
big open-air market to get local goods.
St.
Maarten
This
is my favorite stop. We love Orient Beach. We went
to Chez Leandre, a French restaurant right on the
beach. The French side has one of the prettiest
beaches I’ve ever been to. It has great water,
lots of places to eat, and activities all right
in one area. I could easily spend a week here. We
stopped on the Dutch side for shopping. It’s
a great island and I highly recommend it.

St.
Thomas
This
is great place. There’s plenty to do in St. Thomas.
We took the Doubloon, a pirate style ship and went snorkeling.
We did power snorkeling and it was fun. We saw more turtles
and fish. We tried to go to Cuzzin’s for lunch but
they were closed for repairs. We took a taxi to Emerald
Beach, which was nice, but quiet. Anyone wanting to see
a lot and do a lot would appreciate St. Thomas.
Food
The
food was great. I had two wonderful fish dinners and we
never went to bed hungry. We ordered room service all the
time and ate with two other couples in the dinning room
every night.
Service
We have good things to say in the service department. Our
room steward and waitress were great. They pretty much attended
to our needs.

Adventure
of the Seas
This
ship was big but also crowded. We saw parades in the promenade
area and the first ice skating rink at sea. I would say
the amount of passengers was the downside but it’s
worth it for the cruise.
Flight
The
flight was smooth going but coming back we had to wait
in line to take off at Newark airport. It was good though
for the most part and I didn’t have any problems
with it.

Movies
On
this cruise, we saw a few good movies. One in particular I remember
was Year of the dog. It was good about a girl losing her dog and
her neurosis that began following this. We give the waiter and
stateroom attendant some movies as a “tip” since they
spend long hours on the ship. I think another was called Wild
Roomies, which was good too. It got bad reviews but I enjoyed
it. It was about a guy who swears to never to get roommates again
but when he does the irony and conclusion will leave you wondering.
On a personal note, my favorite movie ever is Perfume, story of
a murderer. It’s a must-see!!!
Overall
impression
This
was one of our better cruises. On a 1-10 scale, I would give it
a 7. The ship is big and has plenty of stuff going on. We got
a balcony room which is really the way to go. It’s great
being able to walk out on your balcony, see flying fish, and just
relax to the sound of the ocean. Royal Caribbean is my favorite
cruise line.
