Captain's Log

By Pirate Captain Mike

Barbados
We went on a taxi tour for a few hours in Barbados. We saw some good sights and nice lookout points. At one stop I got to play with a monkey. He was really cute. After that we got dropped off at Chefette, a local Barbados fast food restaurant.

Our taxi driver dropped us off at a Cheffette that was closed, so we had to walk pretty far to find another one. It was good. I got some kind of chicken wrap. After that we tried to walk to a beach, but after about an hour of walking around in the hot sun, we decided to take a taxi. We went to Lobster Live Beach. It was fun. We started getting people on the beach to start singing for Caribbean Idol 2. We decided that Sue from Barbados won the first Caribbean Idol and started filming. We also stopped at the shopping market right by the ship and saw Donna, who sang on the first Caribbean Idol. Overall it was good day.

St. Lucia
In St. Lucia we signed up for the Whale and Dolphin Watch Excursion. As soon as we got on the boat, the captain hauled ass to a stop about one hour away from the cruise ship. This excursion was good because there weren’t too many people on the boat. We didn’t see any whales, and we had almost given up when we saw some other ships watching dolphins. We saw a bunch of dolphins. The dolphins were in schools of about five. They swam in front of the boat and did a few little tricks. We were happy that we saw anything at all.

We have been on three other whale watching tours. We really haven’t seen any whales up close. It’s been very disappointing. Before booking another whale watching tour, I will make sure whales are going to be there during that time of the year. The Shore Excursion desk has no problem selling tickets for a tour they know you won’t see any whales on.

After the tour, we went to a beach. It was good, but kind of crowded. The people on this island are aggressive and often come up to you trying to sell you something.

Antigua
I convinced Kim to go on the Black Swan Pirate Cruise. She didn’t like it very much. The boat was way overbooked. There wasn’t enough room for people to sit down. The cruise was fun. The ship had a rope swing and a plank to jump off. We could either go to the beach or go snorkeling. Kim stayed on the Black Swan while I went snorkeling.

I really did not see a lot of cool fish. I was the first person back on the boat, and I knew Kim was going to be mad at me for leaving her on the ship alone. After everyone got back on the ship, they had a limbo contest. The only people dancing were the cruisers on the ship. The last time we saw a limbo contest in the Bahamas the staff put on a really good limbo show. The tour was fun, just way too crowded.

St. Maarten
We love St. Maarten. We had a great time. We went to Orient Beach and got naked on the beach.

It was so much fun. We swam out to a dock, walked up and down the beach, and went to a bar buck naked. The only problem with Orient Beach is we saw a lot of bad naked too. It’s not all super models on the beach.

After sitting in the sun for a few hours, we ate at out favorite St. Maarten restaurant Che’Larange. The food was really good and not too expensive. After that we did a little shopping before heading back to the ship.

St. Croix
In St. Croix we went on a kayaking excursion. We learned about the Salt River and saw some birds. The beach was very rocky, and it was very hot. I was looking for a Baskin Robbins. After our tour, we did some shopping.

Our cruise ship was the first cruise ship to St. Croix in a long time, so they were happy to see us. There was a parade for us. St. Croix isn’t as developed as some of the other islands.

Website
As my friends say, “How many times can I see Mike and Kim on the beach?” It took me a long time to make this website, but I will be happy when I can look back at it.
