Captain's Log

By Pirate Captain Mike

Kim and I had another great cruise. Leaving out of Norfolk made this cruise really easy. Overall, cruises are great. We have so much fun and really enjoy seeing different places everyday. The food is fantastic and we love room service. We like going to the shows and the casino.

Holland America
We were looking forward to trying Holland America before we left. We heard that Holland America is a premiere cruise line. All cruises are great, but I would have to say that Holland America didn’t treat us as nice as other cruise lines. They don’t go the extra distance with service to make their passengers happy like the other cruise lines. The pool band, buffets, shows, entertainment, and services were not as good as other cruise lines. Holland America treated us good, but the other cruise lines treated us great. Holland America attracts an older crowd. Sometimes it felt as if all the passengers were moving around in slow motion. There were very few couples our age. We would use Holland America again, only because we like leaving out of Norfolk.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas
We really enjoyed Half Moon Cay. The beach was beautiful and the water was crystal clear. It also wasn’t crowded. Half Moon Cay is one of the most beautiful beaches we have been too.

Late in the day we went horseback riding. We rode around the stable for about 15 minutes and then rode on a hilly trail for about 30 minutes. The horseback riding instructor was nice enough to take my camera and take lots of pictures of us. Kimmy really enjoyed horseback riding.

St. Thomas
St. Thomas is one of my favorite places. The beaches are awesome. St. Thomas is an island that has plenty of things to do on it. It is very easy to get a nice taxi. St. Thomas has good shopping. Overall I think I could live in St. Thomas. (Or at least until I needed to go to a Walmart.) MorningStar beach is really cool because they have a lot of lizards crawling around. We saw about a dozen big lizards. Magen’s Bay was also nice. The water is calmer and no lizards. I can’t wait until I go to St. Thomas again.

Dominica
I got my hair braided in Dominica. I got the front half done in the morning and the back in the afternoon. Kimmy didn’t like it. I got a lot of compliments. It was fun. I left it completely braided until morning. I took all of then out except one in the front. I left it like that for a few days. I liked it. We didn’t like Dominica as much as the other islands. Vagrants bothered us for money. We went on a whale watching and snorkeling tour. The crew was really nice, but we didn’t see any whales. The snorkeling was ok.

Barbados
Barbados has started to grow on me. I would like to visit there again. We took an hour-long taxi ride around Barbados in a nice Honda Accord. I smoked a Cuban cigar. We bought a coconut and went to a beach bar to get a lime. It wasn’t very good. The beach was nice. In the afternoon we went on a Green Monkey watch and Eco tour. We were disappointed because we didn’t see any monkeys. We did see a lot of other animals.

St. Kitts
We took a really nice catamaran cruise up the coast of St. Kitts. Sailing in a catamaran is a really nice way to spend a day. The snorkeling was ok. We didn’t see any fish that we haven’t seen before. I got to jump off the side of the boat a few times. After snorkeling, the crew broke out the rum punch, turned up the music, and started dancing. It was really fun. When we got back we tried to go shopping, but everything was closed because it was Sunday. I would like to visit St. Kitts again.

Puerto Rico
We didn’t have enough time in Puerto Rico to do anything fun. It was kind of a waste of a stop because we had to be back on the ship by noon. We have been to Puerto Rico a few times before. The beaches are far away from where the ships dock. I bought buy a really expensive pirate t-shirt that I really like. I used the pirate flag from the shirt for the titles at the top of all the pages.

Cruise 6
At each stop I take about 200 pictures and then download them to my laptop that night. I use a Olympus digital camera to take almost all of the pictures. I also use a disposable underwater camera that I get turned into a CD. Using my camera I also take a lot of QuickTime movies in movie mode.

The Cruise 6 website took me about a month to make. I worked on it all the time, after work and on weekends. To make this web site I used Photoshop, DreamWeaver, Flash, Premiere, QuickTime, Google, LimeWire, and both time and patience. There are more than 381 pictures, 9 movies, 8 secret pages, and 5 hidden trivia questions.

I make these website because I like to show all my friends and coworkers my cruise pictures. The website takes me about a month to build. I enjoy taking pictures. It also helps me remember the day. People tell me they enjoy the pictures and tell us that it looks like we have so much fun. It’s true we have lots of fun! We hope that you get to take a cruise or at least enjoy a nice vacation by looking at our pictures. I also hope that if you know any one that needs a web page you will refer them to me.

People tell me all the time that I should work for a cruise ship or cruise line. If a cruise line wants us to review any of their cruises, please contact us. I would also love to do some freelancing for a cruise line.

Tom, at Adventures Unlimited, booked this cruise for us. He has booked many of our vacations. We recommend them for travel arrangement. Mention that you saw our website for extra special nice treatment.
