CARNIVAL: Carnival is known as the most popular
cruise line in the world. I can see why for a number of reasons.
For the value, you get more room for your money. We got a balcony
room which I highly recommend. On the other hand, there are a
lot of lines with Carnival-like checking in and ones coming back
from excursions. The ships are fuller with lots of people. This
was the youngest cruise we have ever been on. I would say it had
an average age of 20-40.
FOOD: The food was not as good as we have had
on other cruises. There was a good amount of it, but the quality
wasn’t as good. Every night at dinner, the Maitre D’
speaks from a loud speaker and then lights dim and the wait staff
starts dancing for one or two songs. It definately makes you think
it is a party, lively atmosphere.
ROOM:
The balcony room was outstanding. It was so nice being able to
retreat out there. And it was priceless when we saw the dolphin
one morning and loads of flying fish skimming the water every
day. It’s the best way to go on a cruise. Room service was
slow to answer the phone. Sometimes I would be waiting ten minutes
for someone to pick up. This would never happen on the other cruise
lines.
BAHAMAS:
A great stop for snorkeling, we saw lots of fish and the water
is nice. Naussau had plenty of shopping. We also saw where the
Blue Lagoon was filmed.
ST.
THOMAS: It was great to return there for the third time.
We love it for many reasons. It has great beaches, like Morningstar
and Magens Bay. We came during off-season this time, so it wasn’t
as crowded as usual.
ST.
MAARTEN: Our favorite place in the entire Caribbean that
we have visited. Orient Beach is beautiful and no where else is
like it. Getting naked at the beach was the highlight of this
cruise. We started in Philipsburg but ended up in the French side
of the island. Mike did a lot of shopping there for t-shirts and
cigarettes.
MIAMI:
South Beach was a great way to start our vacation. The water was
great and the beach was full of people. We also took a walk down
Ocean Avenue where everybody wants to be seen in South beach.
TRAVEL:
The travel was good getting there. We had a direct flight on American
Eagle to Miami. Coming back, we got back again on a non-stop flight.
However, both of us thought are ears were gonna explode due to
either lack of good cabin pressure or stuffy heads. It was pretty
painful for the last 30 minutes of travel.
FUN
CRUISE: The crowd was younger and it was geared for the
younger people. There was a good band on deck and plenty of seats
to hear them. Due to us having late dinner seating, we didn’t
see many of the shows so its hard to comment on them.
ACTIVITIES:
I didn’t think the activities were all that great. They
had a contest for everyone on the ship to earn points. They had
activities daily at the pool.
